Excellent Emergency Medicine opportunity in New Mexico, offering $285/hour in a well-supported Emergency Department with approximately 26,000 annual visits.
This opportunity features 33 hours of daily physician coverage, 18 hours of APP coverage, a low 10% admission rate, Epic EMR, and flexible 9- and 12-hour shifts. With no trauma designation and extensive specialty support, this is an attractive opportunity for an ABEM physician looking for competitive compensation in one of New Mexico's most desirable communities.
Strong specialty and diagnostic support is available, including Radiology, CT/Ultrasound, MRI, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology, OB/GYN, Obstetrics, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Pain Management, Podiatry, Speech Therapy, and Laser Surgery.
Job Responsibilities
Provide timely emergency stabilization, resuscitation, and procedural care when indicated.
Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing.
Develop appropriate treatment, discharge, admission, consultation, and transfer plans.
Determine when patients require transfer to a higher-level trauma or specialty facility.
Respond to hospital floor codes as required.
Collaborate closely with APPs, nurses, specialists, and other members of the clinical team.
Utilize available specialty services to coordinate appropriate patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within Epic EMR.
Provide efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered Emergency Medicine care.
Qualifications
Current or eligible medical licensure
BLS
PALS
ALS
ATLS
Emergency Medicine experience and competency managing a broad range of acute presentations
Working Hours
7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
33 hours of physician coverage
18 hours of APP/mid-level coverage
Skills
Acute illness and injury management
Emergency stabilization and resuscitation
Proficiency with common Emergency Medicine procedures
Ability to recognize patients requiring higher levels of care or transfer
Effective collaboration with APPs, nursing staff, specialists, and hospital teams
Ability to respond to inpatient floor codes
Strong documentation and proficiency working within Epic EMR
