Excellent Emergency Medicine opportunity in Southern West Virginia offering a highly competitive $285/hour rate and a well-supported clinical environment. This Level III Trauma Center sees approximately 32,000 annual ED visits with an average volume of 2 patients per hour.
Physicians benefit from 24-hour physician coverage, 36 hours of APP coverage, and an extensive specialty backup network, making this an attractive opportunity for experienced Emergency Medicine physicians seeking strong compensation and a supportive practice setting.
Job Responsibilities
Manage approximately 2 patients per hour while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care.
Perform emergency stabilization, resuscitation, and procedures within scope of practice.
Assess and manage trauma patients in a Level III Trauma Center.
Order and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
Develop appropriate treatment, admission, transfer, and discharge plans.
Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, specialists, and other members of the hospital care team.
Coordinate specialty consultations and escalation of care when clinically indicated.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Medhost EMR.
Follow hospital protocols, patient safety standards, and evidence-based Emergency Medicine practices.
Qualifications
ABEM/BEEM – Emergency Medicine
ABFM – Family Medicine
ABIM/AOBIM – Internal Medicine
Required Certifications:
ACLS
ATLS
BLS
PALS
Working Hours
Day: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
24-hour physician coverage
36 hours of APP/mid-level coverage
Skills
Ability to manage acute and higher-acuity presentations
Trauma stabilization and emergency resuscitation
Strong clinical decision-making in a fast-paced ED
Effective collaboration with APPs, nursing staff, consultants, and hospital teams
Comfortable managing approximately 2 patients per hour
Proficiency with emergency procedures and stabilization
