Job description
We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for an ongoing locum opportunity at a freestanding Emergency Department in Texas. This assignment offers guaranteed hours, flexible scheduling, and an independent practice environment with specialty backup.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: October 2026
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Minimum commitment of 5 shifts per month
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- No call
Practice Setting
- Epic EMR
- Independent physician practice
- Telepsychiatry and Telehospitalist support available
- Additional physician backup available from affiliated hospital
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat emergency department patients
- Manage a broad spectrum of emergency conditions
- Practice independently with remote specialty support
- Document encounters in Epic
Department Details
- Approximately 14,500 annual visits
- Approximately 40 patients per day
- 11 ED beds
- Low admission rate
- Low EMS volume
- No routine APP coverage
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine residency
- ABEM, AOBEM, or ABFM accepted
- ABFM physicians must have at least 2 years of ED experience in facilities with 10,000+ annual visits
- Active Texas license
- ATLS, ACLS requirements based on board certification
- Prior locum/travel experience preferred
Credentialing
- Approximately 60–90 days
- On-site orientation
- Epic proficiency test-out available
- Standard onboarding and immunization requirements apply
