Physician - Emergency Medicine
Job Details:
On-site coverage required with shifts scheduled 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverageWeekends and nights required as part of the schedule
No call coverage required
At least 2 years of current emergency department experience required
ABEM board certification preferred; NON-ABEM accepted with 2 years of current ED experience
Must be proficient in central line placement, intubation, dislocation reductions, trauma management, STEMI, stroke response, OB deliveries, ultrasound utilization, chest tube placement, and laceration repair
Case logs will need to be provided
Sites operate as Level IV trauma centers or freestanding emergency departments, all seeing high acuity patients
Patient populations vary by site including elderly patients, winter Texans, nursing home residents, rural patients, and mixed age groups
Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
APP support available at all sites ranging from 9 to 24 hours of daily coverage
Onboarding includes 2 hours of orientation and 2 to 3 required shadow shifts
1 emergency medicine physician per shift at all sites
1-year duration of need

This healthcare system operates multiple emergency care locations across the region, including full-service emergency departments and freestanding emergency rooms. The facilities range in size from 8 to 18 beds and provide comprehensive emergency medical services to a diverse patient population. Each site is equipped to handle high acuity cases with dedicated APP support and access to trauma-level care at select locations.
