Job Details:

• NON-ABEM accepted with 2 years of current ED experience
  
• On-site coverage across multiple 24/7 emergency room locations within the system
  
• All shifts are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverage
  
• Weekend and night shifts required
  
• No call involved
  
• 1-year duration of need
  
• Onboarding consists of 2 hours of EMR and quality measures education plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
  
• At least 2 years of ED experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments; family medicine physicians with emergency medicine fellowship also considered
  
• Case logs will need to be provided
  
• Facility bed counts range from 8 to 18 beds depending on site
  
• Patient population varies by site including elderly patients, winter Texans, nursing home residents, rural patients, and mixed younger populations
  
• Multiple trauma level IV centers within the system; all sites see high acuity cases
  
• Daily admissions range from 10% at freestanding emergency departments to 20% at the main facility
  
• Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
  
• APP support coverage available at all sites ranging from 9 to 24 hours per day
  
• 1 emergency medicine physician per shift at all sites
  
• Required procedures include intubations, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
  
• All varieties of emergency medicine cases expected
