Locums - Corpus Christi, Texas, Emergency Medicine Physician Opening

Start Date: ASAP

Assignment Duration: 1 year

Schedule Details: 12-hour shifts

Available shift times:

• 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Reason for Coverage: Currently short four full-time Emergency Medicine physicians across the system

Practice Setting: Emergency Department and Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs)

Patient Population: All ages

Admissions: Approximately 10% admissions at FSED locations

Support Staff: Each site has APP coverage

Department Structure:

• One Emergency Medicine physician per shift at all sites except one
• No robotic systems utilized

Common Cases: Full spectrum of Emergency Medicine cases including medical, surgical, pediatric, trauma, and critical care presentations.

Procedures Required:

• Intubations
• Central line placement
• Ultrasound utilization
• OB deliveries
• Dislocation reductions
• Chest tube placement
• Trauma management
• Laceration repair

Orientation:

• 2-hour onboarding process
• Training on Meditech and local quality measures
• 2–3 required shadow shifts prior to independent coverage

Requirements:

• ABEM Certified or Eligible – Required
• Emergency Medicine Residency Trained – Required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience for FSED coverage – Required
• Family Medicine physicians with Emergency Medicine Fellowship may be considered for FSED and ambulatory coverage
• ABFM or ABIM physicians with Emergency Medicine experience may be considered for FSED and ambulatory coverage
• Must be comfortable managing the full spectrum of Emergency Medicine procedures and patient presentations
