Critical Access Hospital | 24-Hour Shifts | Ongoing Locums Need

A healthcare facility in Iowa is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to provide ongoing locums coverage in a critical access hospital setting. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians who enjoy low-volume emergency medicine with inpatient responsibilities and a supportive rural practice environment.

Position Highlights:

• Ongoing locums coverage
• Average of 3 shifts per month per provider
• Primarily 24-hour in-house shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Occasional 12-hour shifts may be available
• Provider sleep room available during coverage

Immediate Coverage Dates Needed:

• July 4 @ 7:00 AM – July 6 @ 7:00 AM
• July 12 @ 7:00 AM – July 13 @ 7:00 AM
• July 19 @ 7:00 AM – July 20 @ 7:00 AM
• July 29 @ 7:00 PM – August 3 @ 7:00 AM

Clinical Setting:

• Critical Access Hospital
• Emergency Medicine with inpatient responsibilities
• Average 4 ED patients per day
• Average 4 inpatients daily (observation, acute, swing bed)

Facility Resources:

• EMR: TogetherCare (Epic)
• 3 ED treatment rooms
• 20 inpatient beds
• Imaging, lab, and pharmacy on site
• Strong nursing and ancillary support

Support Team:

• 4 Advanced Practice Providers on staff
• 2 RNs covering services
• 1 CNA support

Requirements:

• Board Certified ABEM or FP/IM with recent Emergency Medicine experience
• Active Iowa license
• Ability to cover requested dates (please specify availability)
• Clean malpractice and background history
• Current NPDB self-query within 30 days of presentation
