Job description
Physician needed for night emergency coverage in a newly established Free-Standing Emergency Department setting. The provider will operate exclusively during overnight shifts (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) and will be responsible for delivering urgent emergency care in a non-trauma environment. This assignment can have, a quick start available for providers with approved privileges.
Job Responsibilities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries in an ED setting
• Perform common emergency procedures as indicated and within scope
• Coordinate admissions/transfers and consult with specialists when needed
• Document all care clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Maintain compliance with site policies, quality standards, and clinical protocols
• Communicate effectively with nursing, ancillary staff, and leadership to support smooth operations
Qualifications
• Active/unrestricted South Carolina medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Comfortable providing night-only emergency coverage
• Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced setting
• Current/valid credentials as required for ED privileges (and ability to meet onboarding requirements)
Working Hours
• 12-hour shifts within a 24/7 coverage model
• Ongoing coverage need, with potential for multiple shifts per month depending on availability
• Quick-start pathway may be available for clean files/eligible candidates
Skills
• Efficient ED throughput skills (triage prioritization, rapid assessment, disposition planning)
• Clear, thorough documentation and comfort using an EMR
• Team-based communication and collaborative approach with nursing/ancillary staff
• Procedural competency appropriate to a general ED setting
• Reliability, adaptability, and professionalism in an overnight schedule
