Job Title: Locum Emergency Medicine Physician
Location: Oak Bluffs, MA
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Coverage Type: Nocturnist Shifts Preferred
Position Overview:
A highly regarded critical access hospital in Oak Bluffs, MA, is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician to join their team on a locum basis. This is a great opportunity for experienced physicians looking for flexibility and the chance to make an impact in a community-based, rural healthcare setting.
Job Responsibilities
Provide emergency medical care in a Critical Access Hospital ED
Work 10 shifts per month for a 3-month assignment (September – November 2026)
September: 6 evening shifts (3p to 12a), 7 night shifts (10p to 7a)
October: 4 day shifts (7a to 7p), 6 night shifts (7p to 7a)
November: Same as October
Work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with limited onsite specialty support
Average patient volume: 2.5 to 3 patients per hour
Provide high-quality care to all age groups (pediatrics, adults, geriatrics)
Qualifications
Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
Beds: 25
Average Daily Census: 20-24 patients
Patient Population: All ages
EMR/Charting: Epic
Requirements:
Board Certification: BC in Emergency Medicine (No IM or FP candidates, please)
State License: MA required
Certifications: ACLS required, DEA required (MA)
Credentialing Timeframe: 3-4 months
Additional Requirements: No CSR required
