Job description
We are seeking Emergency Medicine physicians for a locum tenens opportunity at a Level III Trauma Center in the Appalachian region. This is a short-term coverage need with 12-hour day and night shifts available, supporting a busy emergency department within an acute care hospital. Physicians will work in a physician-led model alongside APC support and have access to a strong network of specialty backup services. This assignment is ideal for board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians, or Family/Internal Medicine physicians with relevant Emergency Medicine experience, who are comfortable managing a steady patient volume in a fast-paced setting.
Job Responsibilities
Manage approximately 2 patients per hour in a busy ED setting
Collaborate with APCs and multidisciplinary hospital teams
Document care accurately in the EMR
Work scheduled 12-hour day or night shifts, including weekdays and weekends
Qualifications
Emergency Medicine experience required for IM/FM physicians
Active, unrestricted state license required at time of submission
Pending license applications not accepted
ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS required
Working Hours
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Skills
Strong patient management and decision-making skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ED
Collaborative team-based approach
Clear communication and documentation skills
Experience with Medhost preferred
