Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in the Louisville area. This position offers a manageable patient volume and a supportive clinical environment with access to a nearby Level I trauma center for high-acuity transfers.
Job Responsibilities
Perform medical screenings, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment in a timely and efficient manner.
Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate transfers to a regional Level I trauma center when higher-acuity care is required.
Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nursing staff, and ancillary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.
Participate in patient flow management to optimize throughput and minimize wait times.
Respond to emergency situations and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care plans and treatment decisions.
Qualifications
Active and unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain)
Current DEA certification
Working Hours
APPs: 8-hour shifts
Skills
Ability to stabilize and transfer high-acuity patients when necessary
Effective communication and teamwork with APPs and nursing staff
Efficient patient flow management in a 24-hour coverage model
Adaptability in a locum tenens environment
