Job description
We are seeking a board-certified Emergency Medicine (EM) or Family Medicine (FM) physician with a minimum of 10 years of Emergency Room experience to join a dynamic Emergency Department in North Carolina. This role offers a collaborative clinical environment with strong advanced practice provider (APP) support and the opportunity for expedited credentialing.
The physician will provide high-quality emergency care in a moderate-volume ED with an open ICU, requiring confidence in managing a broad spectrum of patient acuity, including critical care cases.
- Location: North Carolina (active NC license required)
- Annual ED Volume: 32,000 visits
- Patient Volume: Approximately 18–20 patients per 24-hour period per provider
- ICU: Open ICU (physician comfortable managing/admitting critically ill patients required)
- Credentialing Timeline: As fast as 2 weeks
Job Responsibilities
• Manage a wide range of cases, including trauma and critical care
• Perform emergency procedures (intubations, central lines, suturing, etc.)
• Provide oversight and collaboration with Physician Assistants
• Admit and manage patients in an open ICU setting when required
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical protocols
Qualifications
or Family Medicine with a minimum 10 years of Emergency Room experience.
• Active North Carolina medical license (required).
• Must be Medicaid credentialed.
Working Hours
• APP Coverage: 2 Physician Assistants working 10-hour shifts daily
• Coverage Model:
o Physician + APP collaborative coverage
o Balanced distribution of day and night shifts
• Flexible locums options available
