  • Patient Volume: 23k annual ED volume
  • Coverage Model: 34 hour physician coverage – (7a-7p, 3pm-11pm, 7p-7a); 12 hour APP coverage – (11a-11p)
  • Number of Beds: 8 ED beds
  • Acuity: Level III Pediatric Trauma Center
  • EMR: Epic


Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active Texas license and DEA
  • Board Certification: PEM board certified
  • Skills & Procedures: ACLS, PALS, ATLS at least once in career

About Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley: New to Edinburg, TX in 2024, Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley is a freestanding pediatric hospital independently operated by Driscoll Health System and the only designated freestanding children’s hospital in the Rio Grande Valley. The hospital provides comprehensive, specialized care through a full spectrum of pediatric services, including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and pulmonology. Services include acute inpatient and outpatient surgical care supported by pediatric anesthesiologists, 24/7 emergency services, a 63-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, rehabilitation services encompassing physical, occupational, and speech therapy, advanced imaging including MRI with anesthesia when indicated, and on-site laboratory services. In addition, the hospital offers a dedicated Child Life Program to educate patients and caregivers while helping reduce stress and anxiety throughout the healthcare experience, as well as a pediatric residency program based in the Rio Grande Valley to support medical education and regional workforce development.

Edinburg is 2 hours and 15 minutes south of Corpus Christi and only a little over an hour west of the Gulf Coast.
