PATIENT INFORMATION
- Patient Demographics: All ages
- Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 30,000 annual ED visits
- Admissions: Yes
- Rounding: Included as part of emergency department coverage
- Phone Consults: As required
- Case Mix: Full-scope emergency medicine
FACILITY INFORMATION
- No. of Beds in Department: 484 licensed beds
- Trauma Level: Level II
- EMR System: Cerner
- Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment
- Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist medicine program
- Support Staff Available: 24-hour physician coverage and 30-hour NP/PA coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
- Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours and weekly OT after 168 hours, differential applied
- Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered per locum agreement REQUIRED PROCEDURES
- Emergency department procedures appropriate for physician-level emergency medicine coverage
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses: Active state medical license, CDS, and DEA with Iowa address required
- Board: Board Certified in ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents)
- DEA: Active DEA required
- Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required
- Experience: Residency trained in the specialty certified in
- Other Qualifications: CME documentation and case logs from the past two years required
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages
- Manage acute and emergent conditions in a Level II trauma center
- Perform emergency procedures and coordinate admissions as required
- Collaborate with hospitalist medicine and consulting services
- Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR
