PATIENT INFORMATION
  • Patient Demographics: All ages
  • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 30,000 annual ED visits
  • Admissions: Yes
  • Rounding: Included as part of emergency department coverage
  • Phone Consults: As required
  • Case Mix: Full-scope emergency medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION
  • No. of Beds in Department: 484 licensed beds
  • Trauma Level: Level II
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment
  • Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist medicine program
  • Support Staff Available: 24-hour physician coverage and 30-hour NP/PA coverage
  • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
  • Telehealth Experience Required: No
  • In-Person EMR Training Required: Yes, prior to first shift

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours and weekly OT after 168 hours, differential applied
  • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered per locum agreement REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • Emergency department procedures appropriate for physician-level emergency medicine coverage

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licenses: Active state medical license, CDS, and DEA with Iowa address required
  • Board: Board Certified in ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents)
  • DEA: Active DEA required
  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required
  • Experience: Residency trained in the specialty certified in
  • Other Qualifications: CME documentation and case logs from the past two years required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages
  • Manage acute and emergent conditions in a Level II trauma center
  • Perform emergency procedures and coordinate admissions as required
  • Collaborate with hospitalist medicine and consulting services
  • Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR
