JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician
• Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time
• Location: Blackfoot, ID
• Service Setting: Emergency Department – Critical Access Hospital
• Schedule: 12-hour clinical shifts; consistent monthly schedule structure
PATIENT POPULATION & SCOPE
• Patient Demographics: Adults and Geriatrics; occasional Pediatrics
• Average Daily Volume / Census: Approximately 900 ER visits per month
• Admissions & Rounding: Included as part of Emergency Department workflow
• Consults & Follow-Ups: Specialty consults available; follow-ups not required
• Case Mix/Clinical Focus Areas: Full-spectrum Emergency Medicine, acute care presentations, trauma stabilization, and rapid triage
FACILITY & TEAM DETAILS
• Beds in Department/Unit: Critical Access Hospital Emergency Department
• EMR System: Modern EMR platform with streamlined workflows
• Specialty Backup: Access to on-call specialists, imaging, diagnostics, and transfer support
• Support Staff: Experienced ER nurses, EMS professionals, ancillary departments, and administrative support
• Leadership & Reporting Structure: Reports to Emergency Medicine Medical Director or Chief Medical Officer
• Reason for Opening: Program growth and expansion of long-term Emergency Medicine staffing
CREDENTIALING & COMPLIANCE
• Board Requirements: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine
• DEA & Certifications: Active DEA; BLS and ACLS required
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60–90 days

COMPENSATION & PERMANENT BENEFITS
• Base Salary: Nationally competitive annual salary; increased compensation for hours worked above 144 per month

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Board Status: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine
• State License Required: Eligibility for Idaho medical licensure
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; additional certifications as needed for Emergency Medicine practice
• Experience: Prior Emergency Medicine experience preferred
• Additional Requirements: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced CAH environment; EMR proficiency; strong team-based care orientation
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide full-spectrum Emergency Medicine care in a high-acuity Critical Access Hospital setting
• Evaluate and manage a wide range of emergency presentations with support from nursing, EMS, and specialty teams
• Utilize well-equipped ER resources including diagnostics, imaging, and rapid transfer protocols
• Participate in collaborative care with hospitalists, EMS, and ancillary departments
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital standards
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental workflow optimization
