Position Details
Setting: Emergency Department and Med/Surg inpatient coverage
Start Date: December 2025 (credentialing dependent)
Schedule: Multiple 12-, 24-, and 36-hour blocks available from December through May
Shift Structure: Sole provider covering ED and a small inpatient census
Patient Volume:
ED average 3.6 patients per day
Med/Surg average 1.4 patients per day
Shift Options: Flexible scheduling; pick up single shifts or build multi-day blocks
Orientation: Provided upon arrival
Privileging: Temporary privileges available
Practice and Environment
This opportunity is located in a quiet, rural region of Northeast Iowa at a critical access hospital serving its local community. Physicians cover both the Emergency Department and the inpatient unit in a low-volume environment with stable workflows and strong nursing and paramedic support. Imaging, lab, and pharmacy services are available on site, and the EMR is EPIC.

CNA/NPN support as available
Imaging, Lab, and Pharmacy on site
Malpractice: Provided
Travel and Lodging: Covered within facility guidelines
Credentialing: Expedited temporary privileges available
Certifications Required
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
Active Iowa medical license
DEA and CSR in hand
