ECU Health is seeking experienced Emergency Medicine physicians (EM, IM, or FM with EM experience) to provide coverage across multiple hospitals in Eastern North Carolina. Each location requires arrival the day before for orientation- can be a 1/2 day if already oriented at another location.

ECU Health Chowan Hospital – Edenton, NC

• Coverage Dates:
  • Oct 24: 8p–8a
  • Nov 12: 8a–8p
  • Nov 22, 27, 28: 8p–8a
• Facility Details:
  • 25-bed Critical Access Hospital | 9-bed Emergency Department
  • 16,000 annual ED visits
  • Acute Stroke Ready, Joint Commission accredited
  • Avg. daily volume: 21 patients | Avg. daily admissions: 2.1 day / 1 night
  • Support: Surgery, Orthopedics, ICU, ECU Health Air & Ground Transfer
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Accepting EM, IM, and FM physicians with EM experience (BLS/ACLS/ATLS required for IM/FM)

ECU Health Duplin Hospital – Kenansville, NC

• Coverage Dates (December):
  • AM (7:30a–7:30p): 16, 29, 30
  • PM (7:30p–7:30a): 23, 26, 27
• Facility Details:
  • 15-bed ED, newly renovated with minor emergency fast-track section
  • Avg. daily ED volume: 80 patients | Avg. daily admissions: 11
  • Total inpatient census: 47
  • Accepting EM, IM, and FM physicians with EM experience (BLS/ACLS/ATLS required for IM/FM)
  • Inpatient-only; must have ED inpatient experience within past 12 months
  • Required (IM/FM only): ACLS, ATLS, PALS
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Looking for 6–12 shifts/month

The Outer Banks Hospital – Nags Head, NC

• Coverage Dates (December):
  • Dec 14: 12p–10p
  • Dec 23: 12p–10p
  • Dec 24: 6a–4p
  • Dec 25: 6a–4p & 12p–10p
  • Dec 26: 12p–10p
  • Dec 29: 12p–10p
• Facility Details:
  • Avg. daily volume: ~100 patients (≈1.8/hr)
  • Avg. inpatient census: 20
  • Accepting EM, IM, and FM physicians with EM experience (BLS/ACLS/ATLS required for IM/FM)
  • ICU/Critical Care duties required | Must respond to codes
  • Afterhours admissions handled by hospitalist
  • Standard EM procedures expected
