To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Sound’s emergency medicine practice at WTH – Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee. I am proud of the practice we have built and welcome interest from emergency medicine physicians desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:

People
  • We are a closely knit, established team of nine physicians and two advanced practice providers, with the support of a clinical performance nurse.
  • Our cohesive team of providers has built a solid and enduring working relationship.
  • Benefit from the stability and expertise of our reliable nursing staff and effective leadership.
  • If you have a genuine passion for emergency medicine and the ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously—going beyond routine cases like earaches and sore throats—this is the ideal workplace for you.
Practice
  • Our 16-bed emergency department sees approximately 75 patients each day.
  • Our physician coverage extends to 36 hours, complemented by an additional 12 hours of advanced practice providers.
  • Hospital services encompass 16 ICU beds and specialized care in cardiology, pulmonology, general surgery, urology, GI pediatrics, OB, radiology, anesthesiology, nephrology, and endocrinology.
  • The hospital grounds host an air evacuation base, enhancing emergency response capabilities.
  • As the largest facility with extensive capabilities in neighboring rural counties, we often encounter patients in critical condition, necessitating urgent interventions such as intubations and central lines. Additionally, our expertise extends to handling traumatic cases, from motor vehicle collisions to violent crimes, making procedures like chest tube placements a routine part of our practice.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a director role is required.
  • This role will be supported by a staffing coordinator for scheduling assistance.
  • The regional operations manager provides weekly performance reports to facilitate effective management.
  • Sound Physicians provides comprehensive data reporting tools to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making continually.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • At Sound Medical Group practices, we prioritize fostering growth and development for our team. Here, teammates can enhance their careers locally and within our larger medical group, creating a supportive environment for professional advancement.
  • We are a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
