Summary
NuView Health’s programming allows our Intensivists to achieve better patient outcomes by utilizing protocol driven medical care, through innovative technology. The NuView Tele Intensivist is responsible for providing critical care services through telemedicine to patients admitted to the ICU. This role involves rapid response, comprehensive patient evaluation, and coordination of care with on-site specialists and ancillary staff. The Tele Intensivist will ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and initiatives, and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Job Responsibilities
General:
• Respond by phone within 5 minutes and evaluate ICU patients via telemedicine bedside consultation to maintain Leapfrog compliance.
• Obtain patient history, review clinical and diagnostic results, and perform virtual tele-physical examinations.
• Provide clinical assessments and develop comprehensive care plans in written or dictated form.
• Discuss care plans with nurses, respiratory therapists, ancillary staff, and family members present at bedside.
• Contact stat physician consults directly and available for videoconferencing during assessments.
• Comply with key critical care initiatives such as surviving sepsis protocols and core measure initiatives (CHF, Pneumonia, Acute Coronary Syndrome, etc.).
• Conduct telemedicine bedside rounds via telemedicine cart
• Develop plans for patient discharge during rounds.
• Maintain collaborative virtual relationships with primary, consulting, and referring physicians, facility leadership, and clinical ancillary staff.
• Ensure medical records completion within guidelines.
• Complete and log encounter forms, submitting them within 24 hours of the shift.
Leadership:
• Practice with a team-model in the ICU, effectively communicating and streamlining care plans, delegating responsibilities, and developing management timelines.
• Update and communicate regularly with primary care and consulting physicians, mainstreaming patient care plans.
• Serve as a role model for clinical practice and referral acceptance.
• Assist in orienting new Tele Intensivists.
Clinical:
• Coordinate care with on-site specialists.
• Accept patient referrals and manage all aspects of care for ICU patients referred by medical staff, primary care physicians, surgeons, and consultants.
• Update patients and their family members, providing supportive and compassionate care.
• Consult with sub-specialists and tele-specialists as needed, maintaining a positive co-management model.
• Comply with hospital-based clinical guidelines and initiatives.
• Facilitate and guide patient recovery and rehabilitation plans.
Qualifications
• Medical degree (MD or DO) with specialization in Critical Care Medicine.
• Board certification in Critical Care Medicine.
• Valid medical license to practice in the relevant state(s).
• Experience in telemedicine or remote patient care is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
