System Medical Director, Cardiac Imaging Integration - Hartford, CT Position Details The Heart & Vascular Institute a national leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, surgery, and research, is seeking an experienced, board-certified Cardiologist with significant experience/training in echocardiography, MRI, CT, and/or Nuclear Cardiology. This position will focus on delivering superb clinical care to a diverse, medically complex patient population in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supported by the highest-caliber cardiovascular invasive, diagnostic, and surgical services in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The System Medical Director of Cardiac Imaging Integration will coordinate the strategic direction, operational efficiency, and clinical quality of all cardiac imaging services — including Echocardiography, Nuclear, SPECT CT, PET CT, CT, and MRI — within HVI and in partnership with Radiology partners across the ecosystem. Reporting to the HVI SVP of Operations and Physicians-in-Chief, this role is responsible for ensuring exceptional patient care, optimizing imaging resource utilization, and driving innovation in cardiac imaging technology.

  • Execute a comprehensive strategic plan for all cardiac imaging modalities, aligned with A2E2 (Access, Affordability, Equity, and Excellence) and HVI's vision for high-quality imaging access
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders and regional radiology partners to optimize patient care for cardiac CT and MRI
  • Promote evidence-based practices and establish safe, effective standards for cardiac imaging
  • Perform complex advanced cardiac imaging procedures, interpret results, and provide expert consultation to referring physicians
  • Identify and develop opportunities for program growth and innovation across the system
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives in partnership with HVI, radiology, and system quality teams
  • Optimize workflows and throughput between cardiology and radiology
  • Demonstrate systems thinking by addressing patient and staff concerns and leading system redesign to promote a culture of safety
