Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified General Cardiologist (MD/DO) for a long-term locum assignment supporting a predominantly outpatient cardiology practice in Potsdam, NY. This role includes outpatient clinic, stress test supervision, and occasional inpatient consult coverage. The client strongly prefers one physician who can provide consistent continuity (vs. multiple providers covering sporadic weeks). Epic EMR is required.
Assignment overview
- Duration: expected 6–9 months (initial posting reflects ~26 weeks)
- Target start: ASAP (job lists 08/17/2026 as start date; credentialing/privileging may impact timing)
- Coverage model: 3 weeks per month (single-provider continuity preferred)
- Setting: outpatient cardiology with occasional inpatient consults; solo physician practice environment
Job Responsibilities
• Supervise cardiac stress testing (approximately 1 day/week)
• Interpret cardiac diagnostic studies
• Read nuclear stress tests when qualified (preferred)
• Provide inpatient cardiology consult coverage as needed
• Document all care and workflow in Epic EMR
• Practice independently in a solo physician coverage model while collaborating with existing clinical support as available
Qualifications
• Active New York medical license in hand (required at time of presentation)
• Epic EMR experience (required)
• AHA or RQI certifications (required)
• Ability to supervise stress testing (required)
• Nuclear stress test interpretation (preferred)
• 5+ years of cardiology experience (preferred)
Working Hours
• Coverage requirement: 3 weeks per month
• On-call: 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM (as needed to fill scheduling gaps)
• On-call radius requirement: must remain within ~20 minutes of the worksite while on call
Skills
• Stress test supervision and related clinical decision-making
• Interpretation of cardiac diagnostic testing (including nuclear stress, preferred)
• Independent/solo practice effectiveness (clinical autonomy + sound judgment)
• Strong clinical documentation and workflow proficiency in Epic
• Clear communication with staff and consulting services for continuity of care
