A large regional health system in Spokane, Washington is seeking a Locum Cardiologist to provide inpatient cardiology coverage. This role focuses on managing hospitalized cardiology patients, providing consults, and supporting the hospital care team. The assignment offers ongoing coverage with consistent monthly scheduling and the opportunity to work within a large tertiary care facility and Level II trauma center.
Job Responsibilities
Manage and evaluate cardiac conditions in an inpatient setting
Interpret and review cardiac diagnostic studies including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology
Collaborate with hospital staff, cardiologists, and care teams to coordinate patient care
Document patient encounters and clinical findings in Epic EMR
Deliver timely clinical decision making for cardiac patients in an acute care hospital environment
Qualifications
• Active Washington medical license or ability to obtain through IMLC
• Experience providing inpatient cardiology coverage
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable managing a variety of inpatient cardiac cases and consults
Working Hours
• Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Coverage Need: Approximately two weeks per month
• Schedule Rotation: 7-day stretch beginning Thursday and ending Wednesday
• Start Date: ASAP after credentialing (30–60 days)
Skills
• Experience interpreting echocardiography and nuclear cardiology studies
• Ability to manage acute cardiac cases in a hospital environment
• Strong clinical judgment and decision making
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary care teams
• Efficient documentation and workflow management within Epic EMR
