POSITION OVERVIEW
Bon Secours – St. Mary’s Hospital is seeking an experienced cardiologist with Advanced Heart Failure and LVAD expertise to provide comprehensive inpatient, clinic, and call coverage in Central Virginia. This assignment is ideal for a provider who is comfortable managing complex HF patients, supervising advanced practice clinicians, and integrating into a well-structured cardiovascular program.
Coverage will continue until a permanent physician is onboarded, offering strong continuity and scheduling stability for the right cardiologist.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Coverage Includes:

Daily inpatient rounding on cardiology patients

Outpatient clinic visits

Oversight of LVAD patients and advanced HF management
-
Collaboration with cardiovascular nursing, APCs, and support teams
-
Participation in multidisciplinary cardiology meetings (as requested)
Call Structure:

Rotating night and weekend call (1:6)

Full cardiology support available on-site
Clinical Environment:

4 Advanced Practice Clinicians on service

Established protocols for HF and LVAD patient management
-
EPIC EMR
-
Strong interdepartmental collaboration
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Board Certification in Cardiology

Advanced Heart Failure fellowship or equivalent experience

LVAD certification
-
Active state license or willingness to obtain

Experience supervising APCs
-
Strong background in inpatient HF care and complex case management
SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT
-
Setting: Inpatient, clinic, and rotating call

Weekday Schedule: Monday through Friday

Call Frequency: 1:6 rotation

Duration: Ongoing until permanent placement

Privileging: Temporary privileges available for clean files
