Job description
A facility is seeking a Non-Invasive Cardiologist for locum tenens coverage due to FMLA leave, practice growth, and potential provider turnover/retirement. This is primarily an inpatient position with the possibility of outpatient coverage if additional staffing needs arise. The facility is seeking a full-time physician for assignments lasting 3-6 months, with preference for ongoing coverage. The practice uses Epic EMR and is expanding its cardiology team.
Job Responsibilities
Perform Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs).
Manage inpatient cardiology consults.
Participate in night and weekend call coverage.
Conduct inpatient rounding during call periods.
Potentially provide outpatient cardiology coverage if needed.
Mentor and support newly onboarded Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs).
Document and manage patient care in Epic EMR.
Maintain an average of 15-20 patient encounters per shift.
Qualifications
Board Certified in Cardiology.
Active state license or eligible through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Experience performing TEEs.
Proficiency with Epic EMR.
Preferred
Ability to commit to full-time coverage.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Experience mentoring APP/APC staff.
Self-sufficient and comfortable practicing independently.
Working Hours
Monday-Friday
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (or 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM depending on schedule confirmation)
Call Coverage
1-2 nights of call per week.
1 weekend of call per month (additional weekends available if desired).
Weekend rounding responsibilities included.
Assignment Length
Typical need: 3-6 months
Minimum commitment considered: 1 week plus 1 weekend
Ideal commitment: Full-time ongoing locums coverage
