Job description
We are seeking a Non-Invasive Cardiologist for a locum tenens position in Madison, Wisconsin. This is an inpatient-service-only assignment covering a general/non-invasive cardiology rounding service, structured in seven-consecutive-day blocks. Please see below for more information.
- Trauma Level: Adult II, III, IV
- EMR: Epic
Job Responsibilities
Lead daily inpatient rounds alongside a team of three advanced practice providers, managing a shared team caseload
Supervise advanced practice providers throughout the rounding service
Manage chest pain/ACS, heart failure, hypertension and dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease
Perform EKG interpretation
Perform stress testing interpretation, including treadmill, nuclear, and stress echocardiography
Perform echocardiogram interpretation, including echo reading responsibilities tied to call coverage
Perform Holter and event monitor interpretation
Manage an inpatient census averaging approximately 15 patients daily, fluctuating between approximately 7 and 22
Treat an adult-only patient population
Collaborate with intensivists, nursing staff, and cardiac imaging technicians
Qualifications
Board Certified in Cardiology
Fellowship training in General Cardiology
Wisconsin state license required; IMLC accepted
DEA required
BLS required
ACLS required
Working Hours
Day shifts 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
The week opens Monday at 7:00 AM in the department with a team meeting and prep for the day
Monday through Friday, rounding typically concludes between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM once all patients have been seen; coverage continues until 6:00 PM, when night call begins
Saturday begins at 7:00 AM and ends once all patients have been seen and rounded on, with call held until 6:00 PM
Sunday is a combination of rounding and call; the rounding provider's day ends once all patients have been seen, and the call provider holds call until 6:00 AM Monday
Scheduled hours plus on-call coverage required
Call structure: one weeknight NOC call and one weekend NOC call within the seven-day block, with associated echo reading expectations
