Job description

Aya Locums is recruiting multiple Interventional Cardiologists for an ongoing assignment supporting two sister hospitals in the greater St. Louis area, with locations in Missouri and Illinois.

The client prefers full-time coverage but will consider consistent PRN availability or meaningful blocks of the schedule. The call structure may be negotiable depending on the coverage you can provide.

Assignment details:

  • Start as soon as credentialed
  • Initial three-month assignment with ongoing coverage anticipated through the end of 2026
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • One weeknight of call per week
  • One weekend of call per month
  • Weekend coverage includes morning rounding and STEMI call across both hospitals
  • Approximately 15 patients per weekday
  • Up to approximately 25 patients during weekend coverage
  • $360 to $390 per hour
  • Separate compensation for call coverage
  • Travel and lodging provided

Clinical responsibilities include:

  • Inpatient rounding and Emergency Department consultations
  • General cardiology responsibilities while on call
  • STEMI and interventional cardiology coverage
  • Cardiac catheterizations and coronary interventions
  • Temporary transvenous pacemaker placement
  • EKGs, echocardiography and TEE
  • Epic and Meditech documentation

Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology
  • Current general and interventional cardiology procedural experience
  • Illinois and Missouri licenses required before coverage begins
  • Licensing assistance available for at least one of the two required states
  • IMLC candidates encouraged to apply
  • Active DEA
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Experienced candidates only; new graduates cannot be considered
  • Recent procedural logs required for hospital privileges

Credentialing may require documentation of at least 25 cardiac catheterizations within the previous 12 months, 20 TEE procedures within the previous 24 months, nuclear stress testing experience and additional general cardiology case logs.

I approach locums differently by first learning what schedule, call structure and travel pattern would make an assignment worthwhile for you. Full-time availability is ideal, but I would still be glad to discuss the consistent blocks you could realistically provide.

Please contact me to discuss compensation, licensing assistance and the schedule you may be able to cover.
