Locums – Fort Myers, Florida, Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology Opening

Clinical Role

• Coverage: December 4, 2026-March 31, 2027
• Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology
• Seeking a physician with expertise and training in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation
• Patients include advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and heart failure cases

Schedule & Call

• Full weekend coverage required
• Weekend coverage: Friday at 5:00 pm-Monday at 8:00 am
• Saturday and Sunday rounding plus overnight call
• Rounding typically consists of approximately 8 hours onsite each day
• Coverage after onsite rounding is considered call

Practice Setting & Clinical Expectations

• Integrated advanced heart failure cardiology and surgical program
• Comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic heart failure services
• Physician sees patients independently in the clinic
• APP typically rounds with the physician in the hospital, although APP coverage may not be available during PTO or CME
• Multidisciplinary team approach to patient care
• Program does not perform heart transplantation and works closely with regional heart transplant referral centers
• No LVAD implantation currently
• Advanced treatment options include percutaneous and surgical Impella and ECMO
• Must be proficient in managing short-term mechanical support devices, including Impella and ECMO

Requirements

• Board Certified/Board Eligible by ABIM in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited heart failure fellowship
• More than 5 years of post-fellowship experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
