A nationally recognized cardiovascular program in Kansas City is seeking a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist to join its specialized Cardiac Anesthesiology team. This is a high-acuity, high-volume opportunity focused primarily on advanced cardiac anesthesia within a dedicated cardiovascular operating room environment. The position offers exposure to complex cardiac surgery, transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and structural heart procedures while providing academic and research opportunities.
Position Highlights
* Full-time, permanent Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology opportunity
* Practice primarily and exclusively within the dedicated CVOR
* Limited assignments outside the CVOR in the Main OR
* Join a large Anesthesiology department of more than 170 anesthesiologists, intensivists, CRNAs, AAs, residents, and APPs
* High-volume, highly complex cardiothoracic case mix
* More than 1,600 cardiothoracic, vascular, and hybrid procedures annually
* More than 700 cardiopulmonary bypass cases annually
* CPB volume projected to exceed 800 cases in 2026
* Approximately 40–50 heart transplants annually
* Approximately 30 liver transplants annually
* Dedicated CVOR home call separate from Main OR, trauma, and OB call
* Home call coverage includes cardiac surgery, heart and liver transplantation, and vascular surgery

* LVAD implantation and mechanical circulatory support

Qualifications
* MD or DO
* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
* Completed or currently completing a Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship
* Physicians who have completed training should have recent cardiac anesthesia experience
* TEE Board Eligible or Board Certified
* Ability to practice effectively in a high-volume, complex CVOR environment
* Strong clinical, communication, and collaborative skills
