Opportunity Overview
- Full-time locum assignment
- Start Date: January
- Initial 3-month contract with option to extend
- 6-12 month contracts preferred
- Long-term coverage opportunity
- Level 1 Trauma facility
- Highly complex patient population
- Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Continuous provider coverage required
- No 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off schedules
Schedule & Coverage
- 40 hours per week guaranteed
- 8-hour or 10-hour shifts
- 5x8-hour shifts or 5x10-hour shifts
- Overtime after scheduled shift
- Flexible with requested time off
- No cardiac or OB cases
Clinical Details
- Level 1 Trauma
- Highly complex cases
- Medical direction/support across:
- Neurology
- Orthopedics
- Trauma
- General Surgery
- GYN
- Endoscopy
- Pediatrics
- Locum providers receive the same permissions and access as permanent providers
- Brand-new wing at the Roanoke facility will require additional locum coverage
- EPIC EMR
Requirements
- MD/DO
- Anesthesiology
- Board Certified
- Active Virginia medical license strongly preferred
- Candidates needing Virginia licensure may be considered
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Must be available full-time
- Must complete the Carilion-specific skills checklist
- Credentialing typically takes approximately 100 days, with potential for approximately 75 days if paperwork is completed promptly
