Opportunity:

Physician - Anesthesiology

Job Details:

In-house night call coverage position requiring general anesthesia MD
Call shifts run 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends
Providers typically cover in-house call every other night with a second MD providing backup call coverage from home
Must be comfortable working pediatric and neonatal cases (Peds board certification not required)
Must be able to cover OB and trauma cases solo, including additional OB or trauma cases when CRNA is occupied
Must be comfortable placing central lines independently
Must be proficient with placing regional blocks independently and managing drips
Facility does not handle liver transplants or burn cases
Level 2 Trauma Center with Level 3 NICU, high-risk OB, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Cardiac Center with interventional cath lab, cardiothoracic surgery, EP lab, and vascular surgery
Additional case types include neurosurgery (spine and cranial procedures) and orthopedic surgery
Moderate to high acuity cases with weekday average of 50 cases per day and weekend average of 13 cases per day
500-bed facility with a census of 450-470
Staffing model: 9 MD / 27 CRNA with a 1:4 MD to CRNA ratio (1:2 for Cardiac); mid-levels function independently in a Care Team Model with physician supervising 100% of the time
Required competencies include general, cardiac, pediatric, trauma, and OB anesthesia, as well as central line, arterial line, peripheral nerve block, spinals, and epidurals
Board eligible or board certified required

The facility operates as a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU, and features a Heart Institute, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and 24/7 emergency care including a dedicated pediatric emergency room. The hospital supports a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient surgical services, with support staff including technicians, nurses, mid-levels, CRNAs, and anesthesia technicians.
