A well-established ophthalmic healthcare organization in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a confident and clinically skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its ambulatory surgical team.
This opportunity offers an attractive combination of high earning potential, clinical autonomy, predictable scheduling, and exceptional time off. The full-time compensation structure based on experience along with guaranteed hours, no weekend responsibilities, and eight weeks of paid time off.
The CRNA will work in an established ophthalmic surgical environment alongside experienced surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and administrative professionals.
Job Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations and review patient medical histories
Develop individualized anesthesia plans based on patient and procedural needs
Explain anesthesia plans, risks, expectations, and postoperative considerations to patients
Independently administer anesthesia within applicable Virginia regulations and organizational policies
Continuously monitor patients throughout procedures
Manage airways, medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related clinical needs
Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Provide postoperative anesthesia and recovery support
Evaluate patients for safe transfer through post-anesthesia care
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Complete anesthesia equipment and medication safety checks
Follow infection prevention, medication safety, and quality protocols
Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and facility leadership
Participate in patient-safety and quality-improvement initiatives
Provide calm, compassionate care to patients and families
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
Current CRNA certification through NBCRNA
Active Virginia RN and applicable advanced-practice credentials, or ability to obtain them
Authorization to practice as a CRNA in Virginia
Current BLS and ACLS
Strong knowledge of anesthesia pharmacology, airway management, monitoring, and perioperative safety
Ability to exercise sound independent clinical judgment
Strong communication and documentation skills
Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
Ability to work efficiently in an ambulatory surgical environment
Preferred Experience
Independent CRNA practice experience
Ambulatory surgery center experience
Ophthalmic anesthesia experience
Experience in a high-efficiency procedural environment
Strong preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative experience
Experience managing medically complex patients in an outpatient setting
Working Hours
