Job Details
- Position: Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist
- Location: Newport News, Virginia
- Duration: 52 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $8,910 - $9,390
- Shift Duration: 16-hour day shifts
- Schedule: Day coverage with required weeknight and weekend call
- Case Mix: General anesthesia, orthopedic anesthesia, OB anesthesia, and ENT anesthesia
- Charting System: Epic
- Team Environment: Collaborative anesthesia department with MD supervision of CRNAs
Job Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an approved residency in Anesthesiology
- Board certification or fellowship required
- Current physician license, with willingness to obtain Virginia state licensure if needed
- At least 1 year of Anesthesiology experience required
- ECFMG and FLEX required as applicable
- Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing a broad range of anesthesia cases
Responsibilities
- Assist in directing and coordinating activities in the anesthesia department
- Provide medical management for patients undergoing surgery and other procedures
- Complete pre-anesthesia assessments and review patient history
- Obtain and verify informed patient consent
- Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and expectations with patients
- Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Monitor physiological status throughout procedures
- Deliver timely clinical interventions when needed to support safe patient care
