The role is primarily clinical, with opportunities to teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the operating room. Faculty may also participate in research, quality improvement, and other academic activities based on individual interests.

Clinical Practice
OU Health serves as a Level I Trauma Center, providing adult anesthesiologists with exposure to a diverse range of high-acuity and medically complex patients. Faculty support urgent and emergent surgical care in addition to scheduled operative cases and work closely with trauma surgery, critical care, emergency medicine, and other multidisciplinary teams across the academic medical center.
Adult anesthesiology faculty provide perioperative care across a broad range of surgical specialties within OU Health’s academic medical center.
The practice offers exposure to complex and high-acuity cases while maintaining a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, patient safety, and evidence-based care.
Faculty work closely with surgical teams, nursing staff, CRNAs, residents, fellows, and other specialists to provide comprehensive perioperative care.

Opportunity Highlights
- Additional compensation available for call
- Physicians participating fully in call may earn approximately $50,000 in additional annual compensation
- Annual Quality Metric Performance incentive opportunity of up to 5% of base salary
- 220 annual shift requirement, providing approximately eight weeks away from scheduled clinical shifts
- 5 CME days annually and a $5,500 CME allowance
- $15,000 relocation assistance
- Department-paid DEA and OBNDD registration fees
