We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiology Physician (MD/DO) for a locum opportunity at an Acute Care Hospital in Potsdam, New York. This inpatient position involves providing anesthesia services for a variety of surgical procedures, obstetric cases, and general anesthesia. The provider should be comfortable practicing in a rural, critical access setting and may supervise CRNAs as needed. The assignment includes scheduled weekday shifts with required weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide anesthesia services for obstetric cases, including epidurals.
• Deliver general anesthesia and perioperative patient management.
• Evaluate patients before, during, and after anesthesia administration.
• Supervise CRNAs when required.
• Participate in inpatient anesthesia coverage and assist with surgical scheduling.
• Respond to weekday, weekend, and holiday call as scheduled.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
• Active New York Medical License required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Recent Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience providing inpatient anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, epidurals, and general anesthesia.
• Comfortable working in a rural or critical access hospital environment.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Residents and Fellows are not eligible for this assignment.
Working Hours
• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM day shifts.
• Required weekday call: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Required weekend call: Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM (as scheduled).
• Holiday call coverage required for designated dates.
• Assignment duration: 26 weeks with ongoing coverage opportunities.
