Case Mix & Volume:

• Total Monthly Cases: Approximately 1,200
• Case Types: All types except transplant and complex pediatrics
• Pediatrics: Basic cases only (e.g., tonsils, broken bones)
• Cardiac: ~150 cases/month, including 100 TAVRs; 1 cardiac surgeon on staff
• Neuro: Minimal, only basic head cases
• GI: 9,932 cases annually (2,791 inpatient)

OB Anesthesia Details:

• OB Call: 24-hour call, not required to be in-house unless attending VBAC at 5cm+ (average 1.2 times/month, 3.5 hours in-house)
• Laboring Moms: Typically 3?4 at a time
• Monthly Deliveries: ~200
• VBACs: ~20 per month
• Emergent C-Sections: ~14.5 per month
• Epidurals Placed: ~46 per month
• Scheduled C-Sections: Treated as standard OR cases

Certifications Needed:

• Active or Eligible for Iowa Medical License
• Board Certification in Anesthesiology
• ACLS, BLS (preferred)
