A hospital-based anesthesia group in Bismarck, North Dakota is seeking a Board Certified Anesthesiologist for locum tenens coverage following a physician retirement. This role follows a medical direction care team model with CRNA oversight and a balanced mix of clinical and call responsibilities.
A hospital-based anesthesia group in Bismarck, North Dakota is seeking a Board Certified Anesthesiologist for locum tenens coverage following a physician retirement. This role follows a medical direction care team model with CRNA oversight and a balanced mix of clinical and call responsibilities.
Compensation:
$3700/24 hours with 4 hour gratis
$450/hr after 4 hours
Orientation $200/hr (typically 4-8 hour long)
Holiday 1.5x regular pay
Position Details

Schedule and Availability
Seeking coverage for one full week (7 consecutive days) per month, starting April 2026.
Initial shifts will include 5–10 hour day shifts, with call responsibilities added once the provider is familiar with the facility.
Call Structure
Restricted Call (C1):
In-house call
16-hour shifts on weekdays
24-hour shifts on weekends
Unrestricted Call (C2):
Home call
Primarily callback for emergent cardiac cases
Average callback within 24 hours is rare for C2; C1 call is in-house.
Clinical Responsibilities
Medical direction of CRNAs (up to 1:4)
Personally responsible for:
Regional anesthesia
Labor and delivery coverage
All cardiac anesthesia cases
Must be proficient in common regional blocks for orthopedics, including:
Adductor canal
Interscalene
Popliteal
Supraclavicular
Practice Environment
EMR: Epic
Support staff includes CRNAs and dedicated OR staff
Patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric
Credentialing
Estimated credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days once a completed application is received.
Completed application must be returned within 5 days of receipt from the facility.
Credentialing with other facilities is not required.
Travel
Hotel/travel expenses are covered by the client
Submission Requirements
Board Certified – required
Active North Dakota license or IMLC – required
BLS, ACLS, and PALS – required
Clean malpractice history – required
Self-query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation – required
