Anesthesiologist Job Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • Board Certification in Anesthesiology or completion of an approved anesthesia residency
  • Active, unrestricted North Carolina physician license
  • ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable)
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical anesthesia experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate activities within the Anesthesia Department
  • Deliver medical management for patients undergoing surgical and procedural care
  • Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia assessments and verify patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients and families
  • Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitor patients’ physiological condition throughout procedures
  • Perform clinical interventions as needed
  • Supervise Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and perform anesthesia cases
