Details
o
Staffing Model: 7 MDs, 11 CRNAs
o 292 licensed beds
o 10-11 OR’s plus OB running daily; 3 to 4 rooms run late daily until about 7pm
o 10,000 annual cases
o Must be comfortable with OB
o 1600 Deliveries a Year; 70% Epidurals, 25% C-Section (includes VBACS)
o Cases include wide variety of cases from general to cardiac including GYN, eyes, craniotomies, ENT. Have a broad diversity in practice and general surgery very busy. Also do robotic surgery for general surgery, gynecology, and ortho. No hearts. Level 3 NICU but irrelevant to the practice
o Approximately 100 bypass cases / year and 99% on bypass, not off pump. Utilize TEE.
o Lots of regional anesthesia

o Call Required:
-MD In house call 1:9, 2 rooms 10 hours, 4 rooms 8 hours
Physicians have about four 1st calls/month (in house) and 3-4 back up calls/month.
-CRNAs- 1:14 1st & 2nd Call (both beeper); Post Call OFF after 1st call; on call with MD who is in-house.
Late night rotation as well in reverse order of call rotation.
o Most cases medically-directed. Opportunity for qualified CRNA’s to work in CV and OB
o Both Physicians and CRNA can and will push meds, induction is collaborative process. CRNAs perform both epidural and spinal blocks. Physicians perform the majority of the other regional blocks (femoral, interscalene, etc.)
o CRNAs do not routinely place regional blocks (as in inter scalene or femoral).
o CRNAs place & manage epidurals & spinals. un
