The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston seeks experienced Obstetric Anesthesiologists to join our thriving academic department.
The 675,000-square-foot Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion opened in 2020 and houses obstetric services. The Obstetric unit with its associated MFM program conducts 3,500 deliveries per year, including high-risk parturients.
Required Qualifications:
- American Board of Anesthesiology Certified or Board Eligible is required
- An obstetric anesthesiology fellow or extensive experience in OB anesthesia is required.
- Additional advanced training or experience beyond fellowship is welcome but not required.
- Eligible for South Carolina licensure
- Research experience and interests are preferred but not required.
Position Highlights:
- Faculty provide a full range of state‐of‐the‐art obstetrical anesthesia services, including exposure to all varieties of high‐risk obstetric patients, as well as ample clinical exposure to normal pregnancies. We are a Center of Excellence for Placenta Accreta.
- Approximately 80% of our patients receive regional analgesia for labor and delivery.
- Faculty are involved with clinical care, bedside and didactic teaching of residents, consultation, and collaboration with obstetricians regarding our high‐risk patients, as well as a clinical research program with opportunities to complete several research projects and present findings at national meetings.
- We offer the opportunity for collaborative research efforts with our obstetrical and neonatology departments.
