Locums | Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery PA | Portland, OR (active OR license required)
Why This Role
Two openings
Defined March–August 2027 assignment
Mix of clinic, OR, and inpatient rounding
Thoracic and robotic surgery exposure
Established team of 3 APPs
Assignment Details
Dates: March 1–August 31, 2027
Schedule: Full-time, 35–40 hours weekly; typically 2 clinic days and 2 OR days
Call: 24-hour beeper coverage with 30-minute response; frequency pending clarification
Weekend call: Includes inpatient rounding; at least one weekend monthly, Friday 7 a.m.–Monday 7 a.m.
Coverage type: Scheduled clinical hours plus call
Volume: Approximately 10 patients per shift
Setting: Inpatient, outpatient clinic, and OR; flexibility to cover multiple local hospitals and clinics required
Support: 3 APPs, 2 RNs, and 3 office staff
EMR: Epic
Credentialing: Approximately 90–120 days
Clinical Details
OR first assist, outpatient visits, and shared inpatient rounding
Triage calls and escalate to surgeons as needed
New consultations and ED calls route directly to the surgeon
Thoracic surgery assist experience preferred
Surgical mix: Approximately 60–70% VATS and 30–40% robotics
Vein harvesting with Maquet equipment and open radial harvesting/harmonic scalpel skills sought
Five years of recent cardiovascular surgery experience preferred; less-experienced candidates considered
No admissions or APP/resident supervision required
Requirements
Physician Assistant with cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery experience
First assist certification
Active OR license required
Board certification/eligibility
BLS and ACLS
Active DEA
