Anesthesiology / Critical Care Physician Opportunity – Southwest Georgia

Overview:
A 155-bed community-based teaching hospital in Southwest Georgia is seeking a full-time Anesthesiology/Critical Care Physician to join a dynamic and well-established anesthesia team. The position offers a unique blend of anesthesiology and critical care responsibilities, with strong multidisciplinary support and modern facilities.
Position Highlights

Schedule: 26 weeks on / 26 weeks off (typically 7 on / 7 off, flexible by agreement with the anesthesia team)

Coverage: Two anesthesiologists scheduled per shift; supervise CRNAs and AAs

Call: Required during scheduled weeks; includes critical care call and anesthesiology backup

ICU: 10-bed open unit; consult-only model partnering with pulmonology and critical care physicians for daily rounds

Technology: New Mindray anesthesia machines, Glidescope for emergency airways, Belmont rapid infusers, and modern ultrasound systems

Facilities: 6 OR suites and 2 endoscopy suites within a state-of-the-art surgical department

Academic Involvement: Opportunities to precept medical students and residents

Requirements

Completion or upcoming completion of an Anesthesiology Residency and Critical Care Fellowship

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology (must be certified within 5 years if eligible)

Georgia Medical License or participation in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
Case Mix
-
Bread-and-butter general anesthesia: nerve blocks, A-lines, epidurals, etc.

No cardiac or neurosurgery cases
-
Approx. 8–9 starts per day and 700 cases per month (including ~200 endoscopies)

OB services: ~750 deliveries per year

Extensive robotic surgery program (4 Da Vinci 5 Surgical Robots, Mako Robot, C-arm, and more)
