Job description
Job Description:
Client is a nonprofit behavioral health organization serving individuals and families throughout Northern Michigan.
Our continuum of care includes Withdrawal Management, Residential Treatment, outpatient services, and recovery-support programs. We are committed to providing evidence-based, person-centered Client while treating every individual with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Client is seeking a collaborative and mission-driven Medical Director (MD/DO) to provide physician leadership and medical oversight across our substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who is passionate about Client medicine, behavioral health, and improving access to evidence-based treatment.
The Medical Director will provide physician-level leadership across Withdrawal Management, Residential Treatment, and Medications for Client (MAT/MOUD) while partnering closely with advanced practice providers, nursing, clinical leadership, operations, and executive leadership.
This is primarily a medical leadership and oversight position, rather than a full-time direct-patient-care role. The physician will focus on clinical consultation, higher-acuity decision-making, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, medical protocols, provider oversight, and physician coverage.

Provide physician-level consultation to APPs, nurses, and other members of the clinical team.
Support complex medical, psychiatric, withdrawal-management, and medication-related decision-making.

Provide medical oversight of Client MAT/MOUD services.
Promote recovery-oriented approaches to Client.
Support integration of Client medicine, behavioral health, and general medical care.
Help establish and maintain evidence-based standards for medication management.
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
Review significant medical events, hospital transfers, adverse events, and quality-of-care concerns.
Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient-safety initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve clinical outcomes, safety, access, and continuity of care.
