Position Overview

MiraVista Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Part-Time Addiction Services Physician to provide clinical leadership, oversight, and supervision to a multidisciplinary medical team serving patients with complex substance use and co-occurring mental health needs.

This role is ideal for a physician with strong primary care expertise, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to integrated physical and behavioral healthcare. The Addiction Services Physician plays a key role in shaping clinical practice, supporting providers, and promoting a positive treatment and work culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants delivering medical care to patients with substance use disorders

  • Provide leadership through regular team meetings, chart reviews, and case consultations

  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing leadership, and clinical teams to ensure coordinated, integrated treatment planning

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and staff education

  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations

  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource, providing feedback on performance and professional development

  • Provide direct patient care as needed and participate in on-call rotation

  • Perform telehealth consultations as required

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Board Certified in Family Medicine (required)

  • Active, unrestricted Massachusetts medical license

  • Active DEA registration

  • Active Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in inpatient, primary care, behavioral health, or addiction treatment settings preferred

  • Prior supervisory or medical leadership experience strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of care for individuals with substance use disorders, serious mental illness, and co-occurring conditions

  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, DMH, DPH)

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills

  • Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care
