The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is seeking a dynamic, results-driven physician leader to serve as Chief, Education and Learning. This pivotal role provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and expert oversight of all specialties within Medicine Service—serving Veterans across Mississippi and parts of Louisiana and Alabama.
What You’ll Do:
- Progressive management experience with strong administrative and interpersonal skills to coordinate a broad continuum of programs.
- Knowledge of the VA system and its regulations relating to academic affiliates.
- Ability to maintain and enhance partnerships with academic affiliates and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for oversight and administration of all aspects of the Health Care system education, including guidance and training for residents and other trainees as well as hands on clinical work.
- Develops the annual strategic and budget plan for the education program consistent with guidance and goals from the Director's Office and/or Fiscal Service.
- Manages relationships with academic affiliates and supporting services to maximize efficiency and drive highly reliable operations.
- Encourages and supports research and education missions. Facilitates translation of research findings into improved patient outcomes.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with call coverage as needed

Job Responsibilities
Likely starting base salary range: $275,000.00 - $400,000.00
Malpractice: Liability protection
50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Qualifications
Ability to manage clinical and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or
Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
