Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated Academic Internist to join the Core Faculty of our fully accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin, Georgia.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinician-educator who is passionate about resident teaching, outpatient supervision, and advancing internal medicine education within a collaborative community-based academic setting.

About the Program

Our Internal Medicine residency program has a strong track record of academic achievement, long-term faculty retention, and successful subspecialty fellowship placement. As our program continues to grow, we are expanding our faculty to support continued excellence in graduate medical education.

Position Structure

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) outpatient-only GME Core Faculty position.

Appropriate protected non-clinical time will be provided for duties including resident education, curriculum development, accreditation support, and scholarly activity. Additional time may be allocated for specific academic activities at the discretion of the program and aligned with institutional priorities.

Additional inpatient clinical shifts may be available on an optional basis outside of the regular outpatient schedule.

Position Highlights

• 100% outpatient faculty role within the GME clinic
• Primary responsibility includes outpatient supervision and teaching of Internal Medicine residents
• Provide clinical instruction while modeling professionalism and high-value, evidence-based patient care
• Deliver didactic lectures and participate in conferences and clinical case discussions
• Actively support resident growth, wellness, and scholarly development
• Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing program improvement
• Engage in scholarly activity, including research, quality improvement initiatives, or participation in regional and national professional societies
• Reports directly to the Internal Medicine Program Director

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine (Board Eligible candidates will be considered if recently trained)
• Interest in medical education and resident development
• Prior GME experience preferred, though not required
