Locum Tenens Urgent Care NP/PA – Richmond, VA

Looking for experienced Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to provide locum tenens coverage at urgent care clinics throughout the Richmond, VA area.

This is a great opportunity for an NP or PA who enjoys the variety of urgent care and wants a consistent schedule while the organization works to fill permanent positions.

Location Richmond, VA

Schedule & Coverage

• Start: As soon as credentialed
• Coverage: 3 days per week
• Shift: Clinics are open 7 days a week, 8 AM–8 PM
• No call
• 3 Full-Time Locum Providers Needed
• Each provider will work approximately 3 shifts per week
• Approximately 9 total shifts per week need to be covered
• Coverage will continue until permanent providers are hired
• Locum-to-perm opportunity may be available

What You'll See

This is a true urgent care environment with a broad patient population. Patients range from pediatric to geriatric, and the day-to-day mix can vary significantly by location and season.

Patient volume typically ranges from 25–50 patients per day, with volume expected to increase during cold and flu season.

Providers should be comfortable evaluating and treating a wide variety of common urgent care complaints, recognizing higher-acuity conditions, and determining when a patient needs to be transferred to a higher level of care.

Skills & Procedures

Providers should be comfortable with many of the following:

• Simple, intermediate, and complex laceration repair
• Suturing and stapling
• Incision & drainage (I&D), including packing
• Foreign body removal
• Minor burn management
• Skin lesion care
• Orthopedic injury evaluation and stabilization
• Splinting and casting
• Joint reductions
• X-ray interpretation
• EKG interpretation
• Point-of-care testing and lab interpretation
• Rapid strep, flu, COVID-19 and RSV testing
• Urinalysis and blood glucose testing
• Epistaxis management, including nasal packing and chemical cautery
• Cerumen impaction removal
• Nebulizer treatments
• Initial emergency stabilization and airway support
• Appropriate referral/transfer to the ED or higher level of care when necessary
