Locum Physician Assistant – Urgent Care | Richmond, VA

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) for a Locum or Locum-to-Perm Urgent Care opportunity across multiple locations in the Richmond, Virginia area.

• Duration: Approximately 3 days/week until a permanent provider is hired

Schedule

• Urgent care clinics are open 7 days a week
• Hours: 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
• Shifts are 12+ hours, depending on patient flow
• Providers are expected to see patients who arrive during clinic operating hours

Patient Volume & Population

• 25–50 patients per day, depending on location
• Volume may increase during cold & flu season
• Patient population ranges from birth through geriatric
• Patient mix varies by clinic and day
• Higher-acuity patients will be stabilized and referred to an appropriate ED/ER when necessary

Clinical Responsibilities

The PA should be comfortable managing a broad range of urgent care conditions and performing procedures including:

• Simple, intermediate & complex laceration repair
• Suturing and stapling
• Incision & drainage (I&D), including packing
• Foreign body removal
• Minor burn management
• Skin lesion care
• Orthopedic injury stabilization
• Splinting and casting
• Joint reduction
• Diagnostic and point-of-care testing
• X-ray interpretation
• EKG evaluation
• Point-of-care lab interpretation, including:
  • Strep
  • Flu
  • COVID-19
  • RSV
  • Urinalysis
  • Blood glucose
• Epistaxis management, including nasal packing and chemical cautery
• Cerumen impaction removal
• Nebulizer treatments
• Initial emergency stabilization and airway support

Required Qualifications

All requirements are mandatory:

• Board Certified – REQUIRED
• Active Virginia license – REQUIRED
• Active BLS – REQUIRED
• Active DEA – REQUIRED
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care setting
• Clean background
• No malpractice or medical license issues — no exceptions
