Locum Tenens Physician Assistant Urgent Care-North Carolina

Position Overview

Urgent Care in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This is a high-volume outpatient urgent care setting serving adult and pediatric patients (6 months and up). The provider will function as the sole on-site clinician with full support staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients (adults & pediatrics)

• Perform minor procedures including I&Ds, laceration repairs, and ear irrigations

• Manage high patient volume efficiently while maintaining excellent bedside manner

• Document all encounters in Epic EMR

• Deliver care aligned with FastMed’s patient-centered culture

Volume & Support

• Average patients per day: ~40 (up to 60 depending on site)

• Support staff onsite: Medical Assistant, Office Staff, Center Manager

• Supervising Physician: Provided offsite for APPs

• No call, no admissions, no inpatient responsibilities

Requirements

• Active North Carolina license (required at time of submission)

• Board Certified NP or PA (Family, Emergency, Acute Care, or Urgent Care)

• Minimum 12 months of urgent care or related experience

• BLS required

• DOT certification required

• Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred

• Comfortable seeing adults and pediatrics independently

• Strong communication and interpersonal (“soft”) skills

• New graduates not accepted

Credentialing & Onboarding

• Estimated credentialing timeframe: ~20 days

• Clinical interview required

• Mandatory Epic training and onboarding (held on scheduled Wednesdays)

• Provider must complete all credentialing prior to being scheduled
