• Provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage in an acute care hospital setting.
• Care for adult patients age 18 and older.
• Support urgent cardiac surgery cases, including patients transitioning from the cardiac catheterization lab to surgery.
• Work alongside APP support staff with surgeon backup available following consultation.
• Provide coverage for approximately 3 weekends per month.
• Hospital capacity is approximately 163 beds.
• Use Epic for electronic medical records.
• Care for adult patients age 18 and older.
• Support urgent cardiac surgery cases, including patients transitioning from the cardiac catheterization lab to surgery.
• Work alongside APP support staff with surgeon backup available following consultation.
• Provide coverage for approximately 3 weekends per month.
• Hospital capacity is approximately 163 beds.
• Use Epic for electronic medical records.
Job Responsibilities
• Participate in 24-hour call coverage from Friday evening through Monday morning.
• Perform patient rounding and respond to clinical callbacks.
• Assist with urgent cardiac surgery cases and coordinate care from the cath lab through surgery.
• Support postoperative patient management, including ICU-to-home transitions.
• Perform or assist with specialized procedures such as vein harvesting.
• Consult with and coordinate care alongside the supervising cardiothoracic surgeon.
• Respond to an average of approximately 4 hours of callbacks per day, including rounding.
Qualifications
• DEA registration required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience required.
• Acute Care certification is not required.
• Board certification requirements are not specified.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days, with temporary privileges available for candidates with a clean file.
Working Hours
• Scheduled coverage is Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM.
• Coverage required for approximately 3 weekends per month.
• Listed coverage dates include October 23 at 5:00 PM through October 26 at 7:00 AM and October 30 at 5:00 PM through November 2 at 7:00 AM.
• Average callback and rounding requirement is approximately 4 hours per day.
• Two hours of gratis time included.
