We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to provide inpatient Pediatric Neurosurgery coverage in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a scheduled, no-call opportunity with 3 × 13-hour shifts per week, offering a consistent daytime schedule with no night or holiday coverage.
Job Responsibilities
• Round with the resident team and review daily patient care plans.
• Evaluate patients requiring direct clinical assessment.
• Review and enter patient orders.
• Manage inpatient treatment plans and postoperative care.
• Assist with discharge planning and discharge orders.
• Monitor patients and communicate changes in clinical status to the neurosurgical team.
• Perform Hemovac and JP drain removal when appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with residents, physicians, and other members of the care team.
• Focus exclusively on patient care; APPs do not participate in the OR.
• Document patient care using Epic EMR.
Qualifications
• Board Certification in Neurosurgery required.
• Active Massachusetts PA License required; candidates willing to obtain the license may be considered.
• Massachusetts PA licensing can take approximately 3–5 weeks.
• Minimum 1 year of Neurosurgery experience required.
• Pediatric/inpatient neurosurgical experience preferred.
• Ability to remove Hemovac/JP drains preferred.
• Strong inpatient clinical assessment and patient-management skills.
Working Hours
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 × 13-hour shifts per week
• Hours: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• No nights
• No holidays
• No call
• Weekend shifts may be included as part of the 3-shift weekly schedule.
